Jehovah's Witnesses believe that only 144,000 individuals are anointed with God's Holy Spirit. These anointed ones will go to heaven when they die and rule with Jesus Christ over the earth. They believe that Jesus is NOT the mediator between God and all Christians. 1 Timothy 2:5 NIV. According to Jehovah's Witnesses, Jesus is the mediator between God and the 144,000 anointed Christians. See Mediator. All other Jehovah's Witnesses believe that they belong to the 'Great Crowd'.
Therefore millions of Jehovah's Witnesses believe they will not go to heaven when they die. Jehovah's Witnesses who belong to the Great Crowd believe they must affiliate themselves with the anointed Jehovah's Witnesses and obey the anointed ones who represent 'the faithful and discreet slave' in order to be saved by Jehovah. See What Does The Bible Say About The Slave?
Jehovah's Witnesses who belong to the Great Crowd believe one of two things will happen.
The first scenario is that they will survive armageddon and enter into God's Kingdom on earth. In God's Kingdom there will be no suffering or pain. There will be no death and God will wipe out every tear from their eyes.
The second scenario is that they die before armageddon. If this happens, they will be literally dead and in an unconscious state. Then after armageddon, they will be resurrected, be given a new body, and they will live on the earth.
