To most people the truth is the truth. No one can argue with the truth because it is always true and never changes.
Examples of Truths That Don't Change:
When I was a Jehovah's Witness, I looked forward to new truths. No one dared to argue with the truth because everyone knew it was the truth. We believed we were the only religion with the truth. We were God's organization. All other religions had false beliefs. I knew my beliefs were Bible based and since the Watchtower Society was Jehovah's organization everything they spoke was the truth.
When I debated Bible doctrines with non Jehovah's Witnesses I could not understand why they were 'twisting' the scriptures. I was convinced everyone was taking the Bible out of context except the Watchtower. If you are a Jehovah's Witness, do you feel the same way too? I found that it was impossible to reason with non Jehovah's Witnesses. There interpretation of the Bible was obviously wrong because their beliefs were different, and I knew I had the truth.
As time went on I understood the difference between the truth and the truth the Watchtower Society published. The truth never changes. It is always true. Yes we might have a better understanding of the truth in the future, but the truth should never flip flop. I saw that Watchtower truths can change at any time. Therefore 'the truth' is merely the current opinions of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses at this point in time.
Even though the rules can change at anytime, Witnesses are expected to obey the Governing Body as if they have 'the truth'. This didn't sit right with me, I grew up believing that apostasy is in reality rebellion against Jehovah. If Jehovah was making the rules, the rules shouldn't change. That's why when I saw that Watchtower truths can flip flop back and forth, I began to doubt that my religion was God's organization.
How can they admit mistakes are possible and claim to be the only true religion at the same time? How can it be that all other beliefs are 'false' and they are the only ones with the truth? If God doesn't speak with them directly, isn't it possible that they have misinterpreted some or all of the Bible? Isn't it possible that truth and falsehood exists in all religions?
Just because the teachings of the Watchtower are different than all other Christian religions doesn't prove they are the only true path to God and everlasting life. If their doctrines are not inspired by God, it's possible that all other Christian religions are truthful and the Watchtower is the false religion! Of course this would be the opposite and highly unlikely extreme.
All religions have something to offer. Truth exists in all religions including the Jehovah's Witness faith. Consider what rainbows can teach us about God, religions, and world peace.
Notice the following statements made in Watchtower publications and you will quickly see that their teachings are not inspired by God. Their doctrines were created by men who interpreted the Bible differently than all other religions.
"This pouring out of God's spirit upon the flesh of all his faithful anointed witnesses [Joel 2:28-29] does not mean those now serving as Jehovah's Witnesses are inspired. It does not mean that the writings in this magazine The Watchtower are inspired and infallible and without mistakes. It does not mean that the president of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society is inspired and infallible, although enemies falsely charge us with believing so." (Watchtower May 15, 1947, 157)
"... Because it [Watch Tower Society] is not infallible and has never claimed to be, from time to time corrections are necessary." (Watchtower Oct 15, 1954, 638)
"True, the brothers preparing these publications are not infallible. Their writings are not inspired as are those of Paul and the other Bible writers." (Watchtower, Feb 15, 1981, page 19)
"The Governing Body consists of a group of anointed Christian men ... They are not inspired of God and hence are not infallible." (Jehovah's Witnesses Unitedly Doing God's Will Worldwide brochure , 26)
"Those who make up the one true Christian organization today do not have angelic revelations or divine inspiration" (Jehovah's Witnesses Proclaimers of God's Kingdom , 708)
