If you're a Jehovah's Witness, this article is for you.
Are Jehovah's Witnesses saved? Are they the best religion in the world and the path to eternal life? Let's assume that they are and see what the Bible says.
Jehovah's Witnesses know that idolatry is forbidden by Jehovah. They know from studying their Bible, that Jehovah does not allow them to idolize a man made statue or symbol for God.
Thus the question arises, has the organization unwittingly become a symbol for salvation? Watchtower Sept 1989.
Could a reverent attitude towards the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses and 'those taking the lead', be a modern day form of idolatry and 'creature worship', - except on a much grander scale than celebrating Mother's Day?
Has the organization become a symbol representing God? Wouldn't that be the same as building a statue or image and bowing down before it? Wouldn't that be disgusting in the eyes of Jehovah? See Rebellion Against Jehovah's Organization
The Bible makes it clear that worship, devotion, loyalty, obedience, and faithfulness is reserved for God alone. The Bible does not say that any statue, person, or religious organization has been authorized by God to be his representative. Boastful claims about being God's only organization, the only true religion, and so on, do not have any factual basis in the sacred scriptures. Critics say that religious propaganda is mind control.
Critics point to the fact that anyone who claims to have the authority of God is committing blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Does the Watchtower organization claim to speak on behalf of God? Do they have the authority of God? Are they God's slave? Blasphemy from a religious standpoint is 'the act of claiming the attributes of deity' Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
Critics say the Jehovah's Witnesses have twisted the rules of logic. They make up the rules, prophecies, and doctrines based on their understanding of the Bible. Being confident they are God's organization, they believe that only Jehovah's Witnesses have any scriptural hope of being saved. See the Watchtower Sept 1, 1989 Then they expect everyone to believe in what they say, including God! Well it doesn't work that way. No one can control what God believes, and he is not anyone's servant. God is not a baptized and dedicated Jehovah's Witness who is obligated to follow the rules and regulations of a human organization. God loves all the people he created, like a father loves all his children.
In the real world, God does whatever he wants, whenever he wants to do it. He is God. No organization has the power to control God and tell him what he should do, when he should do it, or who he must save based on their membership roster. No religion can force God into obedience, based on their incorrect interpretations of the Bible. No religious organization has a monopoly on God.
Debating over which religion is best is like a siblings arguing over who Mommy and Daddy loves more. Generally speaking, parents love all their children. So does God. John 3:16
Christians do not worship God by being dedicated, loyal, and obedient to any church or organization. Christians are free to attend any church. They are not afraid that opposing viewpoints will turn them against Jesus. They have personal relationship with God that is symbolized by baptism. Matthew 28:18,19.
Christians are saved by God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Religions can't save anyone. Neither can the ancient God of the Israelites. Critics say that the Father of Jesus is not the same as the god Jehovah. See Jehovah vs Jesus
Christians know that religions do not save people. Only Jesus has that authority. He is the only path to eternal life. John 6:67-69. Read your Bible. Trusting in an organization the same way we trust in God may put our salvation at risk.
'You will suffer the penalty for your lewdness and bear the consequences of your sins of idolatry. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.' NIV Ezekiel 23:49
'And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.' Matthew 12:31
1. The Watchtower religion believes they are 'God's slave'. The Watchtower says, 'The slave’s will is Jehovah’s will. Rebellion against the slave is rebellion against God.' Watchtower June 1, 1956 page 346. See more quotes about Rebellion against Jehovah and 'His' Organization. For a modern day perspective on God's slave see the Watchtower June 15, 2009
2. The Jehovah's Witnesses are programmed to believe they are God's spirit-directed organization and the only true religion through which people can be saved at armageddon. Ironically though, the Watchtower also says in their literature that they have no divine inspiration
Even though JW's are not allowed contact spirits and practice spiritualism, the baptism vows of Jehovah's Witnesses says their organization is spirit-directed. How can this be? Is it possible that only the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses has a spiritual connection with God and everyone else does not? No. All Christians are equals before God. According to the Bible, the spirit of Jesus is available to all who call upon his name. Matthew 18:20;
