Witnesses are required to be separate from the world. If they disobey the organization they face the threat of judicial committees, disfellowshipping, disassociation, and shunning. The organization uses their authority as spiritual teachers to take away family and closest friends from those who leave.
When someone leaves or is forced out of the organization by disfellowshipping or disassociation, everyone is punished, - those who leave AND those who are loyal to the organization!
When a loved one leaves the organization, those inside the organization are emotionally damaged. They grieve the loss of their loved one. The person who leaves is emotionally wounded as well. They lose their mother, father, clidren, sisters, brothers, uncles, aunts, life long close friends, ... etc. They lose all loved ones inside the organization. (with rare exceptions).
