What Jesus Said About Disfellowshipping?

Did Jesus Teach Disfellowshipping?

Jesus said absolutely nothing about disfellowshipping. Since he is the only path to eternal life John 6:67-69, the entire Bible is not required for salvation. All true Christians need is the words of Jesus because he is the path to eternal life. Christians follow Jesus and no one else.

If Jehovah's Witnesses are true Christians and put Jesus first, why do they practice disfellowshipping? Could it be because they put Jehovah and the Apostle Paul ahead of Jesus? This is a possibility since Jehovah, the God of the ancient Israelites is different than God, the Father of Jesus. See Jehovah vs Jesus

What Did Jesus Say?

There is no evidence in the Bible that Jesus approved of disfellowshipping and not speaking with people who disagreed with him. The word disfellowshipping does not occur anywhere in the New Testament. Jesus did not speak of a Governing Body or an organizational system of leadership where people would be formally disfellowshipped for disagreeing with his teachings. That happened after Jesus died. Acts 20:28. And there is no account in the Bible where Jesus approved of treating people as if they are literally dead when they really aren't.

Did The Early Christian Congregation Practice Disfellowshipping?

Early Christians under the leadership of the Apostle Paul quickly drifted away from the teachings of Christ. Paul publicly claimed to be a Pharisee AFTER he became the Apostle Paul. Even as a sincere Christian, it would be impossible for him to totally abandon all the teachings of the Pharisees.

Paul's Conversion to Christianity would be like a Jehovah's Witness becoming a Catholic and then becoming the Pope. Would a former Jehovah's Witness with virtually no lessons in Catholicism make a good Pope and leader of the Catholic religion? Absolutely not. Running Ahead of Jesus.

Organizations that have added to the teachings of Jesus have 'run ahead' and don't have God's approval. The Apostle John said, 'Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; ... If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.' 2 John 1: 9 - 11 NIV Does this mean that the Apostle John recommended disfellowshipping. No he did not. What are the teachings of Christ? Did Jesus say you can't celebrate Mother's Day, birthdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas? Did he say it is a sin to have a blood transfusions? Did he say it is wrong to shop at the Salvation Army or belong to the YMCA? Jesus taught us to be examples of God's love. He even taught us to love our enemies. Basically his entire message, was 'love people, be a good person, and don't hurt anyone.' His teachings were simple and based on love.

The question is, who has been running ahead of the teachings of Christ? Is it the apostates who have left their religion? Or is it false religions who have added to the teachings of Christ and then judged Christians harshly based on doctrines Jesus didn't teach?
