Can Christians Associate With Non Believers?

The Truth.

The truth is that God created the entire world. He didn't make junk. Everything he made was good. As we look around us at nature, we know this is true. God's organization is not limited to one religion. It encompasses the entire world. God loved the world. He didn't hate it. God is not separate from the world. He is the world. He gave his Son so that the entire world would know about his intense love for us.

Who chose to be separate from the world? Wasn't it Satan who first separated himself from God's love? Evil is the opposite of love. Satan left the way of love.

What happened when followers of Satan left God? They were plagued by a tough life. There was no love. We all know the story of Adam and Eve. When they separated themselves from God, pain, suffering and death was the result.

It's the same today. When we choose to be separate from the world God created, we fall into spiritual darkness. It's easy to love people who are just like us. Our challenge is to love those who are different.

We cannot control how people treat us, what they do, or what they say. Maybe we will be hated, 'persecuted' and not popular because of our beliefs, but Christ's way is love. Jesus didn't tell us to avoid people who are different. He didn't tell us to separate ourselves from people with opposing viewpoints. He told us to love our enemies. There's a big difference between separating ourselves from the world, and individuals in the world wanting to be separate from us. John 15:18-25; Matthew 5:43-48

Jesus said this, 'If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.' John 15:19; Since Jesus ate with sinners and tax collectors, it's not likely that Jesus meant for us not associate with people in the world. Jesus told us not to judge. All it means is that because the teachings of Christ differed from most people at the time, Christ was hated. People will sometimes chose to hate people they don't understand. However Christians love their neighbors and enemies.

The theology of the Apostle Paul about being separate from non believers deviated substantially from the teachings of Jesus. 1 Corinthians 6:14-18. There is good reason for this. However Christians always put Jesus first. Jesus has the words of eternal life. John 3:36
