Christians may belong to a religion, but God is their ONLY authority. Christians do NOT believe that their religion is the path to salvation. Jesus saves Christians. They can attend ANY church and they are free. Christians respect church leaders because they are teachers. However obedience is NOT required for eternal life through Jesus.
In a Christian religion, Jesus grants eternal life to those who follow him. Christians have a direct relationship with Jesus symbolized by baptism.
The Bible says this, 'Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
Christians have a personal relationship with Jesus. Followers of Jesus eat the bread and wine that represents Christ's body. They do this in remembrance of him.
Regarding the last supper, the Bible says this, 'After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.' Luke 22:17-20
We at thejehovahswitnesses.org do NOT accept that there is only one 'true' religion and all others are 'false'. However the concept of true religion vs 'false' religion is a common thread in the Watchtower religion. JW's have only two choices, God's organization or Satan's organization, - everyone else.
They don't stop to consider that their religion does not reflect what the Bible and Jesus said. Here are some examples.
Christians are baptized according to the instructions of Jesus. JW's are not. See baptism
Christians partake of the bread and wine that represents Christ. JW's do not (unless they're anointed)
Jesus is a Christian's ONLY authority. JW's must obey the 'anointed' Governing Body because members of the 'great crowd' are NOT in covenant with Jesus.* This is obvious because they cannot partake of the bread and wine at memorial celebrations. In order for millions of Jehovah's Witnesses to be saved and receive eternal life through Jesus, they must obey the 'anointed' Governing Body. These few men in Brooklyn, are the path to eternal life for Jehovah's Witnesses. Everyone must go through them to receive eternal life through Jesus. See Mediator
* For all practical purposes both the millions of Jehovah's Witnesses of the 'great crowd' and all the 'anointed' members must obey the Governing Body. The members of the 144,000 have no voice as to how the organization is run. In fact if a member of the 144,000 'anointed class' disagrees with the Governing Body's rules, they can get disfellowshipped just like everyone else. If this happens, they lose their spot in heaven.
