You are totally misleading the public at large about Jehovah's Witnesses.
I have been studying with JWs for over a year, and first of all, your little comment about Mother's Day being pagan is simply not true. And JWs will not hesitate to tell you why they don't celebrate holidays. Mother's Day is exalting a human, and the Bible states not to put human's above God.
Reply: Really? Are you telling us the Bible says it's a sin to love people? Where does the Bible say that loving your mother exalts her above God? Facts always beat conversation. Please quote some scriptures to support what you say is in the Bible.
Let's make this perfectly clear so lovers of truth can clearly understand the scriptural basis for why Jehovah's Witnesses don't celebrate Mother's day.
Are you saying that spending some time with your Mom once a year, giving her a gift, telling her how much you love her, and that she's special, means you've exalted her above God?
Does the Bible say that loving your mother and honoring her is a sin because it exalts her above God?
What if someone expresses love for their mother every day? What if someone buys flowers and takes her out to dinner once a week or every month? Would that be wrong? Would that be the same as exalting her above God? Surely expressing our love for people can't be a sin. John 13:34,35; 1 John 4:7,11;
The Bible tells us to honor our mother. Loving our mother, showing appreciation, and doing nice things for her, whether it's every year or every day, is encouraged in God's Word. Believing that Mother's Day exalts a human above God, is clearly a gross distortion of what the Bible really says. Exodus 20:12; Deut 5:16; Matthew 15:4,6; Matthew 19:19; Mark 7:10; Mark 10:19; Luke 18:20; Ephesians 6:2;
One of the characteristics of a cult is they twist the truth. The Watchtower uses the Bible to prove what they say but they don't use the organization to prove what the Bible says. The Watchtower manipulates the Bible just like they manipulate Jehovah's Witnesses. They cause divisions and separate people. They tell members to shun their family. Cult leaders are the only ones who demand to be exalted. Everyone else must obey and be 'teachable'. i.e. gullible.
