I was about 9 years old and going door to door with an elderly brother. He would literally stick his foot in the door so people could not close it. He would talk and talk without giving homeowners a chance to say a word. I could see people desperately trying to find a way to say goodbye to this old man in a nice way as they pulled on their doors in vain. Many of them bought magazines anyway in hopes that we would leave. This no doubt encouraged the elderly Witness to use this technique all the time. He was very good at selling magazines but I'm sure they ended up in the garbage can as soon as we left. (That was in the good old days when we sold literature.)
I was about 9 years old and going door to door with an elderly sister. She would do the presentations at front doors that were easily accessible. For houses high on a hill, where many stairs needed to be climbed, she would send me, promising I could do the presentation. When a home owner answered the door, she would shout her presentation from the sidewalk and not give me an opportunity to say a word.
