It certainly is commendable, given the time we live in, to want to serve God with all your heart, mind, and soul. However, what most people don't understand is they will be dedicating their life to Jehovah and 'his organization'. In other words, you will need to obey and trust the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses in the same way you trust God. Are you willing to dedicate your entire life to Jehovah and the Watchtower organization? Even if you are, Christians should always make sure their decisions are based on the Bible.
Dedicating your life to Jehovah also means that it can be very difficult to leave the Watchtower Society if you change your mind about being a Jehovah's Witness. But lets say you never plan on leaving the Watchtower. Even then, if you are faithful to the organization all your life, it is possible to lose some or all of family if they decide to leave and you decide to stay. Your entire family could include parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and very close friends who are like family. Are you prepared to assume the long term consequences of dedicating your life to the Watchtower's Governing Body?
Are you willing to lose all your close relationships in order to serve Jehovah and his organization? Maybe you are and that says a lot about your faithfulness to God. However before you dedicate your life to Jehovah, we recommend that you follow the Bible's advice rather than leaning upon your own understanding. Also, don't let anyone pressure you into making a decision before you fully understand what it means to be baptized as a Jehovah's Witness.
The Bible makes it clear that Christians are to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Yes, the Bible says you can have a personal relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. ALL authority was given to Jesus and no one else. Therefore Christians worship God directly based on the words of Jesus alone.
Christians read what Jesus says in the Bible and live their life in accordance with God's will as explained by Jesus. This makes true Christianity very simple. The entire Bible is not required because Jesus has the words of eternal life. John 6:67-69. All authority has been given to Jesus according to Matthew 28:18
Here's what the Bible says. 'Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit' Matthew 28: 18-19
Critics believe that the Watchtower has run ahead of what Jesus said in Matthew 28: 18-19. They do not baptize Christians the way Jesus instructed. If you dedicate your life to Jehovah as a Jehovah's Witness you will be required to obey Jesus based on the Watchtower's interpretation of the entire Bible. When you dedicate your life to Jehovah, you must agree that your dedication identifies you as a Jehovah's Witness in association with God's spirit-directed organization. Read the following baptism vows over and over again. Pray upon what you will be agreeing to. Are you willing to reject the teachings of Jesus in order to dedicate your life to Jehovah?
If you dedicate your life to Jehovah you will be required to 'YES' to the following two questions.
On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?
Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's spirit-directed organization?
Get all the facts first. Take your time. Do not rely on biased sources such as Watchtower literature. They will only give you one side of the picture because they want you to join their religion and dedicate your life to their organization. Carefully consider all perspectives first. As you do this, ask yourself these two questions. Will I obey Jesus? Or will I obey the rules and regulations of a religion that disagrees with the instructions of Jesus in Matthew 28 18-19?
